Education Cs Prof.George Magoha, has stated that the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates will be notified of their school placement by Monday.
The CS reassured parents and over 1.2 million candidates while commissioning two Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms at Nyondia and Karai Secondary Schools in Naivasha.
The CS also stated that the ministry is on track to complete marking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams by the end of this month.
Prof Magoha noted that the government backed Elimu scholarship program for students from disadvantaged backgrounds will benefit 9,000 applicants from around the country through the Ministry of Education.
He observed that only students who have been unable to secure any other form of scholarship will benefit from the program.
“The selection team will visit individual homes of the applicant to ascertain their eligibility for the scholarship,” said Magoha, adding that the ministry officials will get in touch with the many students who want to benefit from the program to enable them to join.
The CS reaffirmed that the ministry will ensure that the vetting exercise to select the most deserving students for the scholarship program will be transparent and accountable.
On the form one school selection exercise, Magoha said that candidates who sat their examinations from areas which experienced security issues and other calamities such as Baringo County will be fairly considered in the spirit of affirmative action.
