The TSC finally set the date and venue of cbc training in each junior secondary school teachers (JSS) will start training from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) next year.
According to the commission, inspection will begin in January next year. The commission plans to train a total of 116,024 teachers to prepare for the start of Class 7 in January.
A total of 60,000 secondary school teachers have received the Competency Curriculum (KBK). Junior secondary teachers were trained in May this year.
Most elementary school teachers are going to participate in the upcoming 7th grade teacher training.
CBC transition to junior secondary schools in existing primary schools will come after it was announced that all Grade 6 students who pass the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA will do so.
Those Primary school teachers who have degrees, diplomas and TPD certificates and are qualified to teach in secondary schools have been asked by the TSC.
As per to the state House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed said the TSC will coordinate with the Ministry of Education and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) to train grade 7 teachers.
DPR spokesperson.,said ,” The Ministry of Education, the Kenya Curriculum Development Institute and the Teachers’ Service Commission will work on ways to fast-track teachers to ensure there are enough CBC-eligible candidates in the country. “Primary attention will be given to teachers who will be dealing with seventh graders,”
Those teachers responsible for grades 7, 8 and 9 from public (regular and SNE) and private schools will be the target audience for the study.
Note that this board aims to train teachers in language, mathematics, humanities and technical fields.
The topics and areas offered in the junior secondary school will include 7th grade teacher training;
- Languages - English, Kiswahili, Foreign and Local Languages and Kenyan Sign Language.
- Pure Science – Integrated Science of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Health Education.
- Applied Science – Agriculture, Home Science and Computer Studies
- Mathematics.
- Humanities – Social Studies (Civics, Geography, History) Religious Studies, (CRE, IRE, Hindi, HRE and PPI) and Life Skills.
- Technical and Creative Arts – Vocational and Pre-Vocational Studies, Music, Sports and Physical Education Home Science.
