Big Blow To 2022 KCSE Group As University Entry Grades Are to be Revised
A few hours ago, a report emerged that the government through KUCCPS is planning to raise the university cut off points from C+ to B+. This measure is being made so as to rescue technically insolvent institutions.
A cut off point is a grading method used by academic institutions to classify students into different study programmes.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is a state-run corporation that selects applicants for admission to universities, national polytechnics, technical training centres, and other accredited higher education institutions for government-sponsored programmes. It also offers career counselling.
KUCCPS was established in 2012 under the universities act.
According to the report, the government wants to revise this entry grade so that their budget can be able to match the number of students who will join universities as from next year. This measure will be very unfair to the form fours for they are just waiting to do this exam as from date one December.
This measure will surely make many students miss to joining campus for they were hoping for a C+ to be the entry grade. If they hear of this plan by the government, some may even lose hope making them to fail this major exam.
