The competency based curriculum is at its climax, having been proposed and implemented few years ago. The first cohort of its learners will be doing their national examinations this year, which will enable them join junior secondary schools.
It is believed that the new curriculum is there to offer solution for economic challenges facing Kenya in terms of employment.
However, it has emerged that some parents have no faith in this curriculum. This comes as thousands withdraw their children from schools to admit them in those schools offering international curriculum. The move is a setback to the government, having invested heavily in the new system of education.
Therefore the government should go back to the drawing board together with other stake holders and relook at CBC.
It is clear that common citizens do not clearly understand the said curriculum, which initially was made to tame exams oriented 8.4.4. But again learners in grade six are preparing to sit for exams contrary to what many believed or new.
