It has now been suggested that after graduating from grade six of the CBC program, the pupils will continue staying in primary schools.
First group /class of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will continue in primary schools even after they have passed the national exam that would qualify them for junior secondary school in 2023, this is according to Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) prof. George Magoha who said this on Monday, June 20.
While speaking to Moi Educational Center, Cs. Magoha allayed parents’ concerns about the readiness of private schools to accept the first batch of Grade Six graduates as boarders in junior secondary schools.
As per to Magoha, all the parents shouldn’t be required to transfer their kids between institutions, and the competition should take place when they are looking to enroll in senior secondary schools in Grade 10.
Professor Magoha believes that it is essential for parents whose children are already enrolled in private schools to enroll them in junior secondary programs inside those establishments so that the vicious competition that begins after year eight is postponed till year ten.
According to Magoha, these learners will be a little older than typical when they begin applying to senior schools now because of the simple addition of a year.
The Cs.further questioned whether the CBC intended for pupils to start secondary school at an early age and for teachers to be unprepared to deal with this.
