The Cabinet Secretary under ministry of EducationClose Prof Magoha has announced that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination marking has begun under tight security and will be completed in two weeks.
Therefore this means that the results of the 800,000 or so the kcse candidates may be available before the end of the month.
All the candidates will then begin enrolling in universities in June this year.
According to University Education and Research Principal Secretary Simon Nabukwesi stated that the government will ensure that the exams are graded as soon as possible in order to facilitate university placements.
On Thursday,when Nabukwesi spoke in Kaptembwo, Nakuru West sub-county, when he supervised the distribution of examination materials and said that they have already engaged the teachers who will be marking the exams and asked them to report to marking centres. The preparations are ongoing well and they urged the teachers to be just to all candidates.
KUCCPS also will also begin placing candidates in institutions as soon as the KCSE results are released.
” There will be no waste of time. Candidates will be picked to join universities in early June. Those joining colleges and vocational institutes will do so in September.” He added.
He advised candidates that completion of secondary education marks the start of a new journey but secondary school is not the pinnacle of education.
He further urged learners to pursue higher education to secure your future and better contribute to nation-building
Prof. George Magoha also stated that those who engaged in exam malpractice will face severe consequences.
He further reported that over 800,000 candidates in the 10,413 examination centers completed the examination task after three weeks of a rigorous examination timetable.
All the examinations scripts marking is expected to begin on Monday.
