The education CS PROF. Magoha during his tour to Kapsabet Girls in Eldoret gave an enlightening on how the program of training the teachers who will handle leaners in the CBC classes will be carried out.
The expected teachers will be trained on 10 month training program that will be carried on february and December.
The onset of the cbc program seemed to have challenges as it begins on junior secondary come next enrollment.
He also targeted the contractors who are not through with the projects.speaking at Kapsabet Girls Prof. Magoha said that contractors will be paid basing if they have completed the task.
We are targeting to build 6,400 CBC classrooms during the first phase which we shall complete on that stipulated time, and the second phase should start immediately after we finish marking exams which is about the first week of May,” said Magoha on Sunday.
He also disclosed that the three national examinations for Grade 6, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are ready for administration.
“For Grade 6, everything is already in place. The books have been printed and distributed, teachers have been trained and all other materials that are required are ready,” he stated.
The government had released Ksh 8 billion to the Ministry of Education through Treasury to assist in the construction of 10,000 classes in secondary schools to ease the transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) program.
The program seeks to address the classroom deficit in the public secondary schools to allow for a smooth transition of CBC Grade 6 learners to Junior Secondary in January 2023.
