Kenyan School reopening dates were previously changed by Cabinet Secretary Under Ministry of Education professor George Magoha from Thursday, August 11 to Monday, August 18, 2022.
In his announcement to newsrooms dated Wednesday, August 10, Ministry’s earlier communication on the reopening of Basic Education institutions had superseded by the revised dates.
The New changes according to Cs. Magoha, were necessary inorder to create room for the completion of ongoing ballot tallying.
In this week, all schools are again expected to close on 16th September 2022.
This will see learners have a break of 10 Days after which, the 3rd term will begin on 26th of September 2022.
There have been worries that a protracted school closure will result in a delay in the coverage of the curriculum for classes that will be sitting the national examinations for 2022 in November and December.
These concerns were as a result of prolonged shutdown of schools will cause syllabus coverage to be delayed for classes taking 2022 national exams in November and December.
Professor Magoha has apologized for the inconvenience occasioned by these changes and ask for indulgence, as they work through ensuring the safety and comfort of learners through this period.
