President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order on March 14, 2020 affected the national school calendar that saw many schools and institutions reopen for the second term in January 2021, for all classes except Grade 4 and form ones.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had removed the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that had been in effect and students were able to go to school while still observing the Ministry of Health’s protocol on Covid 19.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced that school calendar will return to business as usual from January 2023.
Therefore all schools will open for next term on 25th April,2022. The term is expected to last for 10 weeks. According to the report, half term break wil start from 26th May until 29th May, it will last for 3 days. Holiday for next term will commence on 2nd July until 10th July this year.
In summary the Cabinet Secretary for Education George Magoha revealed that the normal school calendar will resume on January 2023.
