The nationwide teacher relocation exercise started in April and will see primary and secondary school teachers relocated to different schools across the country.
A good number of teachers are concerned about mass relocations next quarter as the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) streamlines staffing across the country.
At the time of the relocation, TSC’s relocation program was a thorn in the flesh for teachers. Teachers have complained that relocations are tearing families apart.
With these transfers, however, they are a huge relief for teachers who are married and have declared their marital status, because the commission has arranged for them to be transferred to as many as possible in the same neighborhood.
According to Commission Chief Executive Nancy Macharia, this exercise is intended to ensure that all schools have a balanced relationship between teachers and students before the start of the second semester next month.
The head of the TSC further noted that if the problem were left unchecked, it would have a negative impact on learning outcomes in our learning institutions.
