It was started in the year 1960 by the community people. The main reason they decided start the school is that they wanted their children to have an easy access to education. The school initially started operating as mixed day secondary school.
As the school kept on progressing, Girls were gradually eliminated which to an establishment a total boy boarding school in the year 2012. The last class that had a mixed gender was in the year 2011.
As the perfomance of the school kept increasing gradually, the population of the school also started to increase.
The school has undergone through much transformation in academics and also in terms of infrastructure.
Kebirigo high school has become a centre of academic excellence by offering opportunities to young boys to have better learning environment and even help them grow spiritual and morally by acquiring the necessary moral values.
It has also become one of the best boys’ school in KCSE examinations in Nyamira county and Nyanza region at large by offering healthy competitions in academics to other schools. This has made its status to change from being a District school into an Extra county school

Departments in the school
The school is headed by Mr Ezekiel Kurgat who is the principal with the help of Mr Dennis Okoth the deputy principal in charge of Administration and Mr James Ogari in charge of academics

School Admission criteria
The school admits students in form one who were placed by the Ministry of education once KCPE is done.
Students can also be admitted in other forms whenever there are vacancies at the beginning of every academic year through serious scrutiny in interviews .
