The timetable for the Grade 6 and 8 National Exams is now available.
Exams for students in Kenya’s sixth grade commenced on Monday 29th August, as per a schedule issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
On Friday, November 25, candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education will have the opportunity to participate in rehearsals. The tests will commence on Monday, November 28.
The deadline for schools to download and deliver exams based on the Competency-Based Curriculum, as announced by Knec CEO David Njengere, was slated for September 9.
This came after Knec made the materials for the evaluation available on its online portal.
All of the projects and practicals that make up Grade 6’s national assessment have were completed.
Students were tested on their marionette-making skills in Art & Craft, and their sewing abilities in Home Science. Both Science and Technology classes had students to create models of the cardiovascular system, while Music students were to perform a folk song of their choice.
Students in the Physical Education classes were tasked with learning how to crawl and swim, as well as skip rope and catch a ball with both hands.
Learners in Grade 6 will take standardized tests in 13 subjects: Kiswahili, English, Mathematics, Home Science, Agriculture, Science and Technology, Creative Arts (Art, Craft, and Music), Moral and Life Skills, Physical and Health Education.
In addition, there is the option of taking a language other than English with the standard social studies (Citizenship, Geography, and History) (French, German, Chinese and Arabic).
The results will be determined by a combination of the annual school-based assessment (SBA) conducted in upper primary classes and a countrywide summative examination covering five subjects
The SBA will account for sixty percent of the students’ total score, and it will be distributed among grades four, five, and six. In addition, the summative report will count for forty percent.
Students in Grade 6 in Kenya will take the Kenya Primary School Education exam at the end of the school year.
Students taking the KCPE will take the Math test in the morning of November 28 and then take the English Language and English Composition tests in the afternoon.
Exams in Science, Kiswahili Lugha, and Kiswahili Insha will be taken on Tuesday, November 29. On Wednesday, April 24th, there will be a final test for both Social Studies and Religious Education.
Exams for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will begin on Friday, December 2nd and end on FRIDAY 23/12/2022.
