TSC employed teachers are now being urged by the institution to log in to their portal and sign up for the training, which will begin after the official end of term one 2022 academic year.
Mount Kenya University (MKU) has informed teachers that the training would begin on July 4 and end on July 8, 2022.
MKU is an accredited service provider by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to implement the TPD programme in compliance with the Teacher Professional Development programme guidelines
Part of the invitation text reads “, Dear (Name) please download the most recent version of the MKU TPD app or go to https://tpd.mku.ac.ke
Login, select “My Progress,” sign up, and download the TPD admission letter and other features.
With the new applicants, training is planned for July 4–8, 2022, according to a teacher’s SMS.
The teachers won’t have to pay the training any more, and this will be a relief for the teachers.
It comes after the National Treasury gave the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Sh1.16 billion for the specific purpose of teacher training.
TSC included Sh289.37 billion as gross current and capital estimates in the 2022–2023 budget, along with Sh7.23 billion for general administration, planning, and support services.
Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) successfully lobbied the education and budget committees to approve the allocation.
Each of these programs, which must be completed every five years, costs Sh6,000 for teachers to complete.
As some of the teachers completed the course online, others physically attended the sessions.
Tpd training is being provided by Kenyatta University, Mount Kenya University, Riara, and Kenya Education Management Institute under a one-year contract with a possibility for an extension.
This program consists of six modules. During the holidays, the training is held.
The teachers will receive a number of points at the conclusion of each module.
Following the fact that the modules have been anchored in the professional progression criteria, teachers will be qualified for re-certification and advancement once they have completed all of the modules.
