According to the Education CS, Prof. George Magoha, the delay is attributed to the busy schedule of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However as anxiety builds up, a number of activities related to the KCPE 2021 results are going on in the background.

Yesterday a number of teachers were able to access the KCPE 2021 results on the online platform.

According to the teachers Knec portal had briefly activated allowing schools to access the results.

KCPE results slips for schools are always downloaded from the link https://www.knec portal.ac.ke/KCPESLIP/

and yesterday though for a short time the link was working.

In the 2020 KCPE tests, a total of 8,091 pupils scored 400 marks and above, a total of 282,090 had 300 to 399 marks while 589,027 scored 200 to 299.

Download KCSE 2019 and 2020 KNEC past examination papers for free (all subjects)

Those with 100 to 199 marks were 299,677. The total KCPE examination score is 500.

Pupils who scored 400 marks and above in last year’s KCPE examination earned automatic admission to national schools.

However private schools were discriminated and have raised complains this year.

Some schools made history like St. Peter’s Mumias Boys primary in Kakamega where 90 out of their total 256 candidates scored above 400 marks.

The number of 400 marks in the 2021 exams is expected to soar following the revelation that the 2021 exams were well performed.

This is also proved through the standardization that shows better scores especially in English and Kiswahili subjects.

However the determinant factors in scoring 400 marks and above is mathematics and science subjects.

For example check the below standardization for mathematics and science subjects.

What this means is that getting a 400 and above marks has been achieved by bright learners who scored over 48 ticks and above in mathematics and science subjects.

In the 2021 KCPE exams standardization for Mathematics is 85% Science 84% Social studies and Religion 86% English 97% while Kiswahili 97%

From the above standardization English and Kiswahili subjects were well performed and will see most learners scoring good marks.

We are wishing all the best to our good candidates. Ministry of education has also promised that all KCPE candidates will get admission letters to secondary schools.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has also urged parents to start preparing their children for form one admission because there will be 100% transition to secondary school.

This year the council registered 1,225,507 candidates in 28,316 KCPE examination centres as compared to 1,191,752 candidates in 28,467 centres in 2020.

This reflects an increase of 33,755 representing 2.75 per cent.

KCPE exam centres were served from 491 distribution centres.

The marking of multiple-choice questions were made easier by the acquisition of the modern Optical Mark Recognition which electronically scores the papers.

The OMR captures marked data from candidates’ answer sheets using specialised scanning.

The machines work with a dedicated scanning device that shines a beam of light on the paper.

The contrasting reflection at predetermined positions on a page is used to detect marked areas as they reflect less light than the blank areas of the paper.

With the new machines, scripts are marked in batches of 100 and 200 sheets, unlike the previous technology, which took hours.

The OMR machines are also used to speed up the tallying of Kiswahili Insha and English Composition marks, which were previously done manually by examiners. The two papers are still marked manually.

However, tallying of marks is no longer done through physical counts.

After marking the Insha and Composition scripts, the examiners will pass over the papers to the new machine, which will do the electronic tallying of marks in record time
