The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is looking for buyers for a public auction of approximately 30 cars.
The IEBC, led by chairperson Wafula Chebukati, is looking for people interested in buying the used equipment through a public auction notice published in the Nation on Friday, December 3.
Terios, Nissan double cabin, Peugeot, Toyota saloons, a mini bus, a Land Rover, and a Mitsubishi Pajero are among the car models being auctioned by the electoral agency. Some of the others are: Toyota Van, Nissan Pickup, Toyota Land Cruiser, Volks Wagen Passat, and Nissan Navara, to name just a few.
The cost of the units varies based on the model, with some costing as little as Ksh45,000 and others costing as much as Ksh2.9 million.
The auction will take place in a variety of places. It will take place in Nairobi’s Industrial Area and Kemu Towers.
Others will be auctioned in Isiolo, Machakos, Kakamega, Kilifi, Lamu, and Garissa counties, among others. Bidding will begin on December 17 at 10 a.m. for those who are interested.
The auction will last until January 2022 in some places. Bidders will be asked to submit a Ksh20,000 refundable deposit per vehicle and a Ksh5,000 non-refundable deposit for the stores and cash office at Anniversary Towers in their offices.
Within 7 days of the bid being cleared, all fully paid vehicles must be picked up. If you do not comply, the vehicle will be offered to the highest second-place bidder, and your deposit will be forfeited.
The auctioneers, on the other hand, have reserved the authority to accept or reject any bid without giving any reason.
In addition, the IEBC is auctioning off a variety of outmoded stores in 47 counties around the country. Bidders must abide by the same regulations when purchasing products.
This is part of a plan to get rid of several of the electoral agency’s vehicles. This comes only months after the Kenya Airports Authority put planes up for sale at several airports around the nation, with some going for as little as Ksh100,000.
