The Public Service Commission (PSC) has asked applicants for the position of principal secretary to apply by September 20.
The PSC is required by Article 155(3)(a) of the Constitution to recommend candidates to the President for nomination and appointment as Principal Secretaries.
The current Principal Secretaries will also need to apply, PSC chairman Anthony Muchiri said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The statement reads, “Women, minorities, the marginalized, and those living with disability are urged to apply.”
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission are anticipated to grant the applicants clearance .
They should also be cleared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) (Certificate of Good Conduct) and have a clearance from Credit Reference Bureau
The qualified applicants must have a degree from a Kenyan institution and at least ten years of relevant professional experience, five of which must have been in a management or leadership position in the public or private sector.
Additionally, they must adhere to the standards of integrity and leadership outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
According to PSC, they should have a basic understanding of the structure and operations of government.
The National Identity Card or Passport, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and transcripts, testimonials, and any other relevant supporting documentation are required to be submitted with every application, according to the Commission.
“Scanned copies of these documents must accompany an online application,” it added.
Further, Muchiri said all applications should be clearly marked “Application for the position of Principal Secretary”.
The applications should be delivered in person to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, which is on the fourth floor of Commission House off Harambee Avenue, or mailed to the address provided by the Commission.

After the advertisement is closed, according to Muchiri, the names of all applicants and those who were chosen for further consideration will be published in print media.
