RECRUITMENT OF 30,000 TEACHERS WILL BE ON CONTRACT.
Teachers Service Commission has stated that it will focus on hiring teachers in primary schools during the January teacher hiring drive.
To that end, in its preliminary report, the presidential working party on education reforms recommended hiring 30,000 additional teachers for the Junior Secondary level.
This process is scheduled to begin in the new year.
Teachers may be hired on a contract basis as opposed to permanent and pensionable conditions, even though the recruitment details (which the President ordered to be completed by January 2023) are not available.
Employing diploma holders from institutions of technical and vocational education training (TVET) to teach pre-tech topics may irritate teachers’ unions.

The previous goal of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) was to retrain secondary school tutors with backgrounds in mathematics, physics, and home science so that they could teach the courses.
Woodworking, metalworking, technical drawing, electricity, electronics, home management, typing, shorthand, textile and clothing, auto mechanics, and accounting are pre-tech disciplines.
President Ruto is rumoured to have opposed the elimination of pre-tech topics since they provide a foundation for technical and vocational education and training (TVET), a fundamental component of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
By recruiting individuals with a certificate in TVET, the government would also provide employment chances for “hustlers.”

President Ruto stated yesterday that most stakeholders who made recommendations to the PWPER approved the CBC but also proposed its enhancement.
“Eighty-six percent decided or advocated that children in sixth grade should advance to seventh grade, although junior secondary schools should be located in elementary schools.
For this reason, many parents must keep a close eye on their children in grades 7,8 and 9,” he explained.
Each member of Congress will be obligated to use the Constituency Development Fund to construct a classroom and a laboratory in every elementary school.
Dr. Ruto stated that the government would collaborate with legislators to ensure the timely delivery of these measures to ensure the smooth progression of children through the education system.
He urged Kenyans to embrace the concept of parental engagement, saying that parents have requested less involvement in their children’s education.
“I would humbly suggest that as parents.
Every evening, my daughter exerts pressure by requesting assistance with a certain assignment.
