Students who intend to enroll in universities and colleges in September have the chance to update their applications right now.
This comes after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced that the window for applying for transfers will begin on Monday, July 25.
Students who wish to transfer from their initial universities or colleges may do so until August 24. Students wishing to enroll in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges may do so during the transfer period as well.
“KUCCPS portal will open on Monday, July 25, 2022, for inter-institutional transfer applications for students placed to various universities, colleges, and TVET institutions and end on August 24, 2022,” read the KUCCPS announcement.
How KUCCPS Calculates Inter University/Institution Transfer Cluster Points
1. First the students apply for a course in a university they wish to transfer to
2.The KUCCPS system then converts the KCSE grades into points- cluster weights.
3. The system ranks clusters weights in order from the highest to the lowest before allocating courses based on the ranking.
4. KUCCPS indicates that the cluster weight of the candidate who gets the last available space in the degree course becomes the cut off point.
The placement agency noted that cluster points for a given course differs from one University to another depending on the demand for the course in that university, therefore the higher the demand , the higher the cut off.
The cut off points for a specific year are always known at the end of the placement process for a specific year, insinuating that KUCCPS itself does not determine cut off points for any program/ University
