However, as noted by the president himself, the Speech was too long and after reading close to 16455 words, he skipped some sections.

“Najaribu kukata kata Mimi nimechoka( let me skip some bits I am also tired)”, said Uhuru amidst laughter from mps.

He then went on to address the nation on BBI after leaving out the section on digital learning and how it has helped learners and teachers.

“I cannot end my report on education reforms without going back to the Covid-19 crisis. This crisis hit us as we were transitioning from 8:4:4 to CBC”, said the president in the section which was left out as quoted by people daily.

The president however was quick to add that still with the challenges, some significant achievements were secured during that time.

He outlined how digital learning program (DLP) started in 2013 came in handy during the Covid-19 period.

He said that the gadgets acquired during that time which include projectors, digital content servers and wireless routers really helped in enhancing remote learning when schools were closed.

“These devices were a huge boost for digital learning when Covid-19 hit, as they were the backbone for the continued remote learning which ensured that our children didn’t fall back from their education”, Said Uhuru.

He said that the digital learning program has enhanced ICT skills among teachers through capacity building whereby over 91,000 primary school teachers have been trained in digital learning.
