The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is the only Commission in Kenya that is mandated to recruit, promote and transfer teachers from one working station to another.
The commission which is currently under the leadership of doctor Nancy Macharia as the serving chief executive officer has been working round-the-clock to ensure that teachers work in a conducive and accommodating environment.
Following a directive given by TSC all teachers are requested to enroll to Teacher Professional Development courses which is supposed to be offered in a number of universities in Kenya.
However, according to the latest report from Teachers Service Commission a few universities have applied to offer the training.
According to Macharia, only eight universities have applied to offer the TPD training for teachers. However they Universities do not meet the requirements of offering the training.
Macharia has expressed her frustration as to why these universities are not willing to offer the training to Teachers.
Following This Move by universities being Unwilling to train teachers on the TPD Modules, the modules will not last longer.
In my opinion,, they are staring at a natural death as many teachers are not embracing them due to costs accrued to it. It’s only a matter of time, and all shall be witnessed.
