Kenya Union of post primary Education Teachers held an annual Delegates conference between 17th and 18th December of 2021.
The Delegates held a peaceful elections for the positions of three National union Trustees. The competitive elections ended well with the following candidates emerging as winners ;
1.Mr Jacob – Eastern Region
2.Mohammed Ali Bash -Coast/North Eastern
3.Charles- Nyanza/R.Valley/Western
Ali Bash and Charles won against incumbents through a wave of change and clamour for new rejuvenated union .
Only Jacob who bounced back for another term .Furaha Lusweti and Linnet were shown the exit door .
The annual delegate agreed that the employer should pay for the program. Chairman Omboko Milemba who doubles up as a member of Parliament differed with Kuppet Secretary Akello.
Mr Omboko promised to take the service head on for teachers to be respected and heard .”I accept that Teacher professional is legal from the constitution but the same constitution states that the employer shall facilitate teachers,there is no where the constitution states that teachers pay money” Said an agitated Omboko .
Earlier on ,the Secretary General was advocating for evidence based approach and diplomacy as they tackle any matters affecting teachers .
The resolutions passed by ADC are powerful than National Executive Board,NEB and must be relooked into . Power belongs to Delegates.
