The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced an extension to the application deadline for the recruitment of teachers that was advertised last week.
The TSC had originally planned to have the deadline for online applications fall on December 16th, 2022. The newly updated recruitment roadmap specifies that applicants who meet the requirements have until the Friday, December 23, 2022, to submit their applications using the online service.
“The Teachers Service Commission reviewed the roadmap for the Recruitment of Teachers and Teacher Interns. TSC announced that the application deadline has been pushed up from December 16th to December 23rd, 2022.
According to the roadmap that was reviewed , the online application period will start on Saturday, December 10, 2022, and will continue until Friday, December 23, 2022.
There are approximately 35,500 teaching job opportunities available, including positions for both teachers and intern teachers, according to an advertisement that was released by TSC earlier this month.
During the process that is currently underway, the TSC intends to recruit 35,550 teachers for public primary and secondary schools.
According to the TSC’s report, only 10,000 of those positions would be filled on permanent pensionable terms, while the remaining 25,550 would be filled on an intern basis.
Regarding the interim teachers, 21,550 openings have been set aside for junior secondary schools that are participating in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) program, while the remaining 4,000 positions will be filled by teachers for primary schools.
The TSC will disclose applicants’ lists once the application process has been completed in its entirety. Between the dates of Thursday, December 29, 2022, and Thursday, January 5, 2023, the County Selection Panel will compile a shortlist of candidates and send out invitations for interviews.
The news came after the government made a commitment to hire an additional 30,000 teachers in preparation for the school year beginning in 2023.
