Students who want to further their academic qualifications can now do so for free, thanks to the University of Nairobi’s (UoN) announcement of scholarship opportunity
The University announced on Monday, August 29, that it would be awarding 137 masters scholarships for the 2022–2023 academic year.
Interested individuals were advised to submit their applications during the month of September, with the deadline set for September 23.
“University of Nairobi is offering 137 masters scholarships for the 2022/2023 academic year. The applications are open only to applicants for the September 2022 intake,” read the notice in part.
How to Apply
The announcement also said that the scholarship is conditional and only valid for two years, with the exception of programs leading to master’s degrees that take longer.
These fields include the four-year-long Departments of Medicine and Dental Sciences.
With the exception of the departments of medicine, dental, and nursing sciences, all applicants should have successfully completed and graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Nairobi in the academic year 2021–2022, which requires a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience before admission to the master’s program.
Students with either a first class honors or a second class upper division are also eligible for the scholarship.
“Scholarships are for full time students only; the student has to take the maximum number of units per semester, and successful students must comply with the terms and conditions of the scholarship and complete their studies within the stipulated programme duration,” added the statement.
Interested candidates must send their letters of application to the deans of their respective faculties in order to be considered.
Each application must be accompanied by an application letter addressed to the Dean, an admissions letter, and certified copies of the applicant’s transcripts and degree certificate.
Once awarded, the scholarship must be accepted without exception at the time of offer.
