In Kenya under the education sector the Teacher service commission is mandated with the powers to employ,promote or dismisses teachers. Under primary school recruitment TSC body can post a teacher in any school in Kenya regardless of whether the teacher applied for that school or not.
But with secondary school teachers, TSC gives them have privilege of choosing a school to be employed since their vacancies are advertised publicly.
Even though this is the case, teachers working in certain regions in Kenya are paid hardship allowances considering the fact that the kind of risks they face are life threatening.
These risks range from harsh climatic conditions, insecurity ,poor infrastructures to shockingly bad working conditions.
